Colon Hydrotherapy

History of Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon therapy is a very ancient method of treatment. Enemas were recorded as early as 1500 BCE in the “Ebers Papyrus,” an ancient Egyptian medical document. Hippocrates, Galen and Pare also promoted the use of enema therapy. In those earlier times, people performed an enema in a lake or river using a hollow reed to allow water to flow into the rectum. Bernard Jensen, DC, says “In times past, knowledge of the bowel was more widespread and people were taught how to care for the bowel.” Somehow bowel wisdom got lost and it became something no one wanted to talk about anymore.

What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy is the safe, gentle infusion of warm filtered water into the rectum using no chemicals or drugs. This is a restorative, painless procedure that is both relaxing and effective. The individual lies comfortably on a treatment table and a speculum is gently inserted into the rectum. The therapist then monitors the temperature and pressure of the water infused into and out of the colon (large intestine) without any assistance on the part of the individual. The entire procedure takes approximately 45 minutes.

The colon hydrotherapy method cleanses the entire colon without stressing the individual. The instrument features a disposable unit that eliminates any possible contamination to the client from a previous procedure. The system is closed and waste material is eliminated through the instrument and out the drain line, avoiding any offensive odor and maintaining the dignity of the individual. The machine is FDA approved and is sanitized immediately after every client.
